Mt. Chimborazo Is The Highest Mountain On Earth

Now before you start screaming at the screen, “NO! Mt. Everest is the highest!!!”, Lemme explain…

While Mt. Everest might have the highest elevation (29’029 ft), Mt. Chimborazo (20’702 ft) is the furthest from the Earth’s  center.

“Earth is not a perfect sphere. Rather, it’s an oblate spheroid. Centrifugal force… has caused the entire planet to flatten at the poles and bulge out at the equator.” -The Book Of General Ignorance

Now, since Mt. Everest is 2000 miles from the equator, but Mt. Chimborazo is almost directly on it (Ecuador), it adds more height to the mountain, almost an extra mile and a half to be exact.
